So what is the big deal with HP with their DV6T and HDX16t?
They are basically identical. If you strip away all paint jobs, they look completely identical disregarding the media touch buttons, and the sub speaker underneath the computer. I see no difference.

So what is making it the deal breaker here for so much people? Is it the lower screen resolution? The lower 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card?

If one think about it, sooner or later, HP will upgrade these specs on the dv6t so that it will be just as good as the HDX16t. Then the HDX16t's name as "premium" series would be sort of stupid as its just a paint job that makes it "premium."

    What do you guys think?

Are you sure on that? I think you're thinking of another ATI graphics card. Because why would HP have that on the dv6t? One would assume HP saved all the "Good Stuff" on their premium series...

The 4650 definitely outperforms the 9600 - the 4650 is comparable to the 9650, with DDR3. It would definitely perform better than the 9600 with DDR2, which is used in the HDX16. Relative standings can be found here.

It boils down to configuration. The max CPU on the dv6t is 2.4GHz while on the HDX16 its 2.93GHz. The display max is 1366x768 vs. 1920x1080. Blu-Ray burner is not an option on the dv6t. The HDX16 has backlit keyboard option and the newer 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M, both not on the dv6t.

I maxed out the spec on the dv6t and it only came to $2,381.99 vs the maxed out specs I ordered on my HDX16 which came to $3,083.99.

So what is the big deal? If you want an average laptop with average specs, then that is what the dv6t is designed for. They don't even have options for better cpu etc. If you want a highend laptop then its the HDX16.

By the way, if you order the HDX16 with lower specs, the price turns out to be comparable to the dvt.

That is so funny. If you want a dv6t, but think that the paint job is ugly, go for the hdx16 because it has a better paint job than that black spiral-whatchu ma call it.
I find it funny how HP gives the opportunity to have the name "premium" slapped over your notebook if you have a particular paint job.

On the other hand, in the lower end of the hdx16, you are basically almost the same to the dv6t, which I don't think HP should of made a move like that.
The HDX16 and the hdx series should be a distinguished class of notebook that is slightly less affordable than say a dv6t. Who feels ripped?

Well the design on the HDXs are suppose to look "cooler". So you're saying that its fugly? I don't know cuz I don't have the HDX16 yet and I'd have to see both side by side. But I think I'm gonna love the paint job. To each his own.
