Some HP notebooks have suffix ending with "us" like tx1205us and others "nr" like tx1215nr. I thought "us" means United States. What's the difference?
I found tx1215nr in local Best Buy for $850 and Best Buy web site says $899. Circuit City sells tx1205us for $899 after mail in rebates. tx1205us has fingerprint reader and tx1215nr does not.

The 'nr' tag is used for notebooks specifically sold at Best Buy.

Interesting. Looks like Best Buy is trying to prevent fraud when people try to return laptops that does not have "nr" suffix.

They have to categorize the notebooks in certain ways since there's basically no difference. My dv6000z claims to be a "dv6445us" but that really doesn't mean a whole lot outside of the B&M realm. Looking at the machine itself there's nothing to differentiate it from a dv6000 of any sort
Also, Circuit City has a dv6449us which as far as I can tell is the exact same configuration of my Notebook, only a little cheaper. -

It's mostly so they don't have to price match other stores. And/or so that other stores don't have to price match Best Buy.

I never thought of that. If they are the only one with that model they don't have to lower the price. Very sneaky but smart
What's the difference between "nr" and "us"
