What's the real reaon for the new Elitebook's shipping delay?

I placed an order of 8440w preconfigured model FN093UT late Feb, and my credit card was charged early March. The ship date went from 2/28 to 3/05 to 3/19 to 3/24, and now the word is that it won't be shipped until the middle of April or even May!!!

All kinds of excuses have been offered, but what's the excuse for HP.com to continue their misleading estimated ship date. If I place an FN093UT in the shopping cart today, the estimated ship date hp.com gives is still sometime next week!!! I can understand some reasonable give-and-take in any estimate, but this is intentional misleading, since hp has known the long delay for a while now.

This seems to be borderline fraudulent practices!!!

 

I entirely agree. There seem to be a lot of delays on the part of every company in shipping the newer mobile workstations --- chinese labor shortage, fires in lcd factories, aliens buying up all the mobile core i7's to feed their babies, who knows why --- but that's no excuse for giving delivery dates that they'll never meet,

 

I finally got the tracking number. My unit shipped yesterday (3/23). I hope this means HP is making progress for those of you still waiting as well. Best wishes...
