Heya folks, I'm considering buying the Envy 14 at release and getting an American friend who is coming to Australia mid July to bring it over with her.

But I'm just wondering what the warranty on these is like? HP's site states they have an international warranty in all regions where that product is sold (And It's sold in Australia), so I _should_ be covered, but browsing the forums shows a few bad experiences of HP getting out of this whenever possible.

Buying it OS is pretty tempting, the Envy 15 is $1300 USD, which translates to $1500AUD, while if you were to buy the Envy 15 from HP Australia, you would pay $2800AU, a full $1300 more, and thats without even taking into account things like the Bing cashback.

I should also point out, out of interest its $1000AUD to fly return to the USA, not on HP, this is just blatent gouging.

I purchased a CTO envy 15 in the states but I live in Canada.

I had the horizontal lines on the screen problem that users have reported in the past. I was able to send it in under warranty fine from Canada. I was told this is ok because HP canada carries the HP envy.

    [rant]
The problem now is that my unit is being "captured" because they couldn't figure out what is causing the problem. I got a call today from HP canada and they said they can only replace it with a "canadian" version of the envy.

Canada only officially carries the gen1 envy. I will not by happy with this. I'm currently awaiting a list of possible replacements. I'm pretty sure I'll be dissapointed in this list.
    [end rant]

so yes as long as your country carries the computer, hp will honor the international warranty
