I'm in the market for a stylish, mid-end 14-15,6" laptop, and my best choice is the Envy or a DV6, but I'm kinda confused because I heard that the Envy 15 is riddled with flaws, as opposed to the (new series?) 14", and for some reason it's not on HP's site. Is the 15" permanently discontinued? Can anyone comment on this, and tell me which Envy is the 'best' now?
And what's the main difference between new DV6 and Envy's ?
Thank you.

the first generation Envy 15 (from 2009 I think) has a lot of flaws, the second generation Envy 15 (2010) is a lot better and they have fixed the flaws. Its discontinued now but some places still sell it, just make sure you get the second generation which has an ATI 5800 graphics card, the first generation has a 4xxx graphics card
DV6 is also good because it has the new Sandy Bridge processor, I beleive the Envy 15 has a better graphics card, better build, and overall looks better. If you can find one with the 1080p screen, its even better.
Envy 14 is the newest one but its actually the same weight as the Envy 15 because it has an optical drive while the Envy 15 doesnt. If you can find an Envy 15 with the 1080p screen, I would choose that over the Envy 14 since you dont care about the bigger size -
Thank you waleed for the answer but unfortunately I can't find the Envy 15" anywhere, so it's pretty much out of the picture.
What about the display quality in the 14"? I've read a review of the Beats edition where the display was horrible, and HP is supposedly adding in it's HQ Radiance Display which should be a lot better than your average laptop display. -

. I do web design and I know it's quite uncomfortable to do it on a 14'' screen, regardless of the res. I survided a couple of years of daily fireworks+photoshop on a 17'' Vostro 1700 (1440x900), and grew tired of it.
You could probably get an Envy (much sexier than a XPS) and an external display for pretty much same price after rebates
Whats up with Envy 15's ?
