Wow um.. those are some of the saddest features I've ever heard someone waiting for.

I'm waiting for February when they'll probably have the new vista models with likely more Ram, HDD, and cheaper Dual-core systems with much, much better integrated video.

You thinks they will have somethink new? It would be great,as im considering to buy dv9000t soon, but it would be perfect to buy 15.4” with better graphic:at least 7600 and post them it! And do you think the price range wont be MUCH higher?

The circuit city site has a dv9010us that will support dvd-ram they also list a dv2120us that they say will do dvd-ram however the HP site will not confirm this. The HP site says the dv2120 will do lightscribe but the circuit city site will not confirm this. I want it all and I want it now.

DVD-RAM is already supported with the Super-Multi Drives that HP offers.

And DVD-RAM is hardly exciting. Or new. It out dates all other recordable DVDs...

costco. lets say the rumors of new features are true for vista oriented laptops in Feb. well you should be able to return the current purchased laptop by then and get the new one if you like..... I think I will do the same for the amazing $1222.99 price I found from costco on a customized dv9000t after rebate. For that price range Im sure a vista laptop in Feb. will have 2gb ram minimum or 1.5 at least for the vista premium...

    md2b261,

RE: Well you should be able to return the current purchased laptop by then and get the new one if you like....

It would be dishonest for a lack of a better word for someone to buy a unit now, then return it when a new model comes out.

It's because of stuff like that COSTCO's return policy was changed from unlimited, to a six month time frame.

Since they're one of the few vendors that offer such, people should reserve returns for those cases in which there is REALLY something WRONG with the machine and the manufacturer is, or has been jerking you around on a repair, fix, or exchange...

Here's an example, whole thread of hundreds of people who are having keyboard problems with the dv8000 series: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=57325 Currently has 670 posts, with 46,102 views...

I bet you alot of people in that thread wish they had purchased thru a vendor with a 180-day return policy.

I would assume deep down you know that buying a unit, then returning it later when the new models come out getting all you money back is in effect stealing, right?...

You're not of that mindset, are you?

You're not a thief... are you?

I'm quite sure that all current HP/Compaq models with a DVD burner support DVD-RAM, at least my Compaq V3019US does. As for more pixels, time probably won't fix that, some higher resolution panels just won't be available in a certain display size because it would be much too hard to see.

this is why I said "if you like"

I ofcourse would never support such a kind of act intending towards practicaly stealling, I was only making the facts known here that if this is the case, that someone needs a laptop now but must have a better one later then assuming the purchase was made via costco then there is a solution for such kind of a case. As to what the person writes down time of the return, be it defective, not satisfied, etc. That I would never comment towards nor would be able to offer any comment.

As to the HP ongoing keyboard problem with the laptops, I am well aware of this and I highly advise people to take advantage of the 6 month return policy in this case.

When you say "if you like", instead of stronger wording that does not imply over to people that anyone who would do such is a scumbag.
By not discouraging such, giving the old wink and a nod you are in a round about way condoning such. Yes you have no control over what they say when they return the unit, but..

A man should be man enough to wait for what he really wants, and if it's a case that he needs something now, and needs something better later he/she should be of such character to SELL the old unit via say Ebay, and use the proceeds of the sale to buy the new unit.

There are alot of people on these boards, with some "bragging" that they bought xyz unit with the express purpose of NEVER keeping that unit with the express intent to return it once the model they were waiting for comes out. I'm of the mindset that we should turn our backs on such people that do such when they come here asking for help because: A: It's not right, and B: that kind of crap drives up prices, causes vendors to further restrict return polices.

PS: Glad you hear you're not a thief... I'm just saying that to even suggest to anyone such is bad for all of us.
