When do big coupons/deals usually come out? Is it just randomly or do they usually come out at the beginning of a new quarter or near the end? My computer is starting to die and I want to buy a new comp near summer time but I don't know if i should buy near the beginning of summer or near the end.

I'd say it's more random than not.

In general, there are two or three 'seasons,' but it is somewhat random. What you want may not be on a deal at all!

    Anyway, they typically are...
    1) Holiday time (black Friday anyone?).
    2) Back to school time (even brick stores have deals around then).

Depending on what you want, if you are a student, you might want to wait until the end of summer.

But it is so random, like Zaz says, and you might actually find a better deal tomorrow than you might find in August!

Just buy when the computer and the price are right for you, and don't fret about future deals that may or may not come out!

If you need a new machine, buy one now. If you can wait 'till you find a deal on the machine you want, hang in there a while. Oh, and good luck.

A good indicator is if you look at the Intel or nVidia road-maps. Often a new unit will come out soon after a new chipset or CPU is announced, but not all the time. Don't expect significant new models out within 6 months of the last model revision.

HP just took off alot of deals.

30% off tv tuner was taken off.

Free upgrade to 2GB was taken off.

50% off Nvidia 8400m GS was taken off.

Only $100 Instant Rebate Vs. $150

Basically now seems like a bit of a bad time to go buy from them. I would wait till they come out with some better stuff.

The thing you need to notice with those "deals" is that the usually have promotional pricing on one part, but not other. Then they do the pricing on another part, but remove the promotion from the original. The net result is no change in price, or maybe a little change, but they get to advertise that something is on sale for a limited time.

Yea yea I know that. But the point I'm trying to make here is that, at the moment the things people will most likely need/want are not on sale anymore and the other stuff is.

The truth is, I made a comparison and without all those deals were looking at an extra 150-200$ at least for the average things people will need.

For example 2GB which is practically a necessity will rob you of 75.00 more from your wallet when last week it was free. Get my point

In my opinion, wait a couple more weeks. The penryns will go down in price and the originals will go even lower. just wait.

    Not too long though.
