This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. Envy just got refreshed. The processor line just got refreshed. The GPU line just got refrshed. Odds are the next bump won't be anything great maybe more of the ATI 5xxx series cards and the Nvidia 3xx stuff.
Maybe some switchable graphics.
Generally every company but Apple pretty much waits until new processor platform shows up.
Hopefully switchable graphics for sure, to address the modest battery life and heat (or warmth, depending on who you ask) of the system. Another firmware update to the trackpad to make it run better and an internal disc drive would be great too.
Are you saying Apple actually refreshes when there aren't major processor releases? I had thought they do refreshes less often than some others, like Sony and HP (or maybe the Windows world of PCs in general).
usually minor refreshes in the spring and again in late summer for back to school. Look for the major releases in October/November for Christmas sales.
last refresh occurred after CES. they included the i7s, i5 and i3 processors. almost every manufacturer refreshed their laptops. i cant see a refresh happening until august or september.
