Alright, i just ordered a HDX16t from HP.com and i was wondering if the shipping date could come earlier or around their actually estimated time or even later. I've had this computer sitting in "my cart" for awhile now and i finally ordered on June 29th with an estimated shipping date of July 7th. But, only a day before, the 28th, on the order thing, HP said the shipping date would be around July 3rd for shipping that I saw when I was looking over my cart preparing to purchase.

Could the date have been delayed by Independence day (on Saturday, but I know some people who get off on the 3rd)? Or could it have been the sale and having a bunch of orders put in for the Fourth of July sale? And if any of these are true, is there any possible way that anyone who has bought from HP in a similar time frame (sale+holiday) could list their experiences and the time that theirs shipped.

p.s. I have to go to my grandparents for a week and since I ordered stuff like a printer, carrying bag etc. that would arrive before the computer I put the shipping address as their house and if it'd probably take more than a week or so, I'd like to know so I'd know how long to expect to stay at their house.

p.s.s. On the HP site it says my laptop is in production no clue how long that lasts.......

Im pretty sure there is a thread in this section on this exact subject, The shipment might have been delayed by anything from the assembly worker calling out sick down the road to US Customs in Alaska once the laptop has shipped. A particular component will sometimes hold up an order like a hard drive not coming from the manufacturer due to delays on their end.

do you know the name of the thread so I can see it any stories or predictions that were told or made? It would help in the planning of the next few weeks regarding trips and obviously my computer.

The July 4th weekend is almost certainly the biggest factor in the switchup on the shipping date. Not only will it affect _HP's own staff, it will affect the staff of the delivery companies as well, and those effects would probably be cumulative, as well. At this point, the only thing that might be possible would be to see if you could get expedited shipping, but that would certainly cost you an arm and a leg at this point.

Shyster, if i remember correctly the units arent actually assembled in north america or any other country that celebrates anything on this day? There then shipped through alaska into the us.

Doesnt mean they wont take the day off anyways. Its been awhile since ive seen the thread, dont remember the exact title. Once it gets to the US holidays will affect shipping.

Good point. True that they aren't assembled in the US; however, they have to be shepherded through US Customs by US personnel, and I would guess that there is an inspection (at least on a sampling basis) of each pallet of systems to detemine whether or not the shipment should be rejected. So, even though the real work took place overseas, my guess is that there is still enough that has to be done stateside that a US holiday could affect the delivery date.

I was wondering if you could have expedited shipping in the first place through HP, that would've solved problems... also is it possible that it could ship in 3 days?

expedited shipping does not mean expedited assembly.

Shipment through Alaska indicates FedEx Global/Flying Tigers (customs clearance in Anchorage). Which in turn means an origin somewhere in Asia.

Extended & secondary batteries and some led backlit screens are on backorder for pretty much everyone.

If you want a system NOW, it's better to get something at a local store or a pre-configured/quick ship model. Those things are on hand and in stock.
