I just barely missed the deal on this, I'm totally upset that I wasn't able to grab this: http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/181965

If anyone knows when a deal like this comes up again anytime soon, let me know, because I have to buy a laptop by Thanksgiving and I don't want to buy anything else if there is another deal like this :(

You can try calling them up and referencing the coupon code and ask them if they can get it for you. That is what I did, and the sales representative just had to go to her manager to get it okayed and then applied it to my order.

Did you order yours past the expiration date for the coupon also then?

Also if I may ask, what specs did you choose for the laptop and how exactly did you tell them the code? Did you say that it wasn't working or something?

Well, when I did it, the website was telling me that the coupon was invalid (which I am pretty sure meant it was after it expired). I just told them that the coupon I wanted to use was telling me it was invalid even though it had worked earlier and then asked if they could sell me the notebook I wanted with that coupon. They asked me for the coupon code (NBSC314243), then went to confirm it was a coupon they could give me, and then gave it to me.

    The specs I ordered was:
HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition customizable Notebook PC
    • Espresso Black
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB)
    • 50% OFF!! 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • FREE Upgrade to 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M
    • 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768)
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    • Webcam Only
    • Intel Wireless-N Mini-card
    • No TV Tuner w/remote control
    • HP Color Matching Keyboard
    • 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    • No Modem
    • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I was able to get it for $899.92 (after FL sales tax and with free two-day shipping). Hope that helps.

P.S. If you can, I recommend paying with a VISA Platinum or Signature card as they will extend the included 1-year warranty to a 2-year warranty free-of-charge (VISA does this, not HP).

Alrighty, that's awesome. Did you give have to give them the specs you wanted over the phone as well? And when I look at the website, it says there's only free standard shipping, not 2 day shipping :(

And this question isn't really related, but I'm wondering if you might know about it. If I waited to get a notebook until Black Friday around Thanksgiving weekend, do you think this would still be a good deal or not?

I built the configuration I wanted while I was logged into my HP.com account, and they were able to pull it up after I gave them my email address for my account. Regarding Black Friday, there might be a better deal, but I tend to not hold my breath for it. Most of the really good deals on Black Friday are done by retailers where you have to be camping out and willing to seriously injure other people to get.

Got it, thank you so much for the help. I will try to get this asap. So overall what do you think of the computer? Any problems with it so far, does it game smoothly?

I don't know if you know about this, but is the laptop able to clock two of the four cores of the processor to a much higher speed? I heard some i7s can do this, but I'm not sure if it's possible on the HP. Anyway, thanks a lot for the hlep.

I haven't gotten mine yet, it should arrive on Friday. Yes, it does have the i7 that can clock the cores to higher speeds (Turbo Boost).

Do they not do the VISA-extra 1yr warranty with Master Card too? I ordered a DV6T (not the quad) with a MC yesterday.

The extended warranty is offered through MasterCard if you use a Gold, Platinum, World, or World Elite MasterCard and the benefit is offered by your card issuer.

You go to http://www.bing.com/search?q=HP+laptops and click on the link at the top that says www.hpshopping.com - Bing cashback (however its only 3% back today, also, the cashback can be cancelled at Microsoft or HP's discretion, and it takes up to 30-60 days to get it back).

Wow, it seems they made the upgrade from 2gb of RAM to 4gb of RAM free, instead of +$20, so I guess there's a slight save there. In contrast though they changed the upgrade from 250 gb hard drive to 320 gb for +$40 in addition with a free upgrade from that to a 500gb hard drive, so I might as well go with that.

I'm having a huge problem though, I tried calling HP and saying that it worked before and now it's not, but the guy I got says that it's expired and that I can't use the coupon. Maybe I just need to get a nicer person? Any tips? I really don't want to lose out on this deal =\

You can maybe try calling again, and hope for another person, but it may be to no avail. If it is any help, I called around 7PM CDT. If they would've had the free hard drive and memory options that they have right now when I ordered my notebook, I would've probably ended up with a 500GB hard drive instead of the 320GB one, oh well. I'll probably upgrade to 8GB memory and 500GB hard drive down the road.

I guess I do qualify for the extra 1 yr warranty. Can I still claim that deal even though I've already put my purchase through?

I'm not sure how MasterCard works, but with VISA, you claim the extended warranty after the purchase (by sending them a copy of your sales receipt). Check their website for more details.
