The Laptop has internal WiFi antenna and I want to attach an external. I understand this is usually accomplished via the SMA port, but this laptop doesn't have one.
This HowTo attaches the antenna via the USB, but I don't understand how (see step 5).
Where and how would I attach an external WiFi antenna?

    See step 1: buy usb-wlan adapter ;)

Basically that describes how to mount usb-wlan adapter with an extension cord to a better position.

Oh, I skimmed over that step because I assumed that was for computers not equipped with internal WiFi abilities, integrated wireless. But you need one anyway, huh? You build the antenna using the USB Wireless LAN adapter "dongle" and connect it to the computer using an usb extension cable. OK, I'll try it. I want to use an old dish network dish for the reflector.
