I'm going to be purchasing the dv5t when it comes out. I'm looking into getting a Vista disc to do a clean install using the guide here on the HP section of the forum. Does anyone know of a place I can get some form of a Vista disc (I don't need the key) preferably with SP1 cheap?

Thanks for the links. I looked at the Windows Marketplace link (the first one) and I tested it with my HP desktop that has Vista on it. I got the message "We're sorry, the following error(s) have occurred: No Offer Found". Any ideas?

Call Microsoft and order it then. Tell them your situation and why you want the backup disks.

That only works for retail licences, you have an OEM licence.

Yep. I bought my Vista OEM 64Bit off newegg for $99 + tax. Then use the activation backup and restore program to activate the copy without having to go through windows activation.

See this link here for instructions on how to use the ABR:

Why is there 4 different disks available for each different version. Isn't it that one disk contains all versions of vista??

Also, I have a Vista SP1 iso image that I downloaded from MSDN and burnt onto a DVD. Would this work for doing a clean install??

As long as its the full vista sp1 n not jst the sp1 update i dont see why it wouldnt work for, i just the anytime update disc i got with my laptop, turns out if you boot of it you can install any version of vista you like. The only reason they are 4 different discs is so they can have the part in the setup which makes you agree to say ur installing the copy of vista you have purchased.
