Yesterday, many websites reported that new Pavilions were going to be released today. So far, nothing has come out yet.

Here is a link about the new laptops.

And for anyone that knows...is the new "HP 9600" going to take over (or refresh) the current "dv9500"?

I doubt the 9600 will take place of the 9500, based on price alone.
But if they do offer for similar price $100-300 range differ, then that would be sweet.

I'm starting to see higher spec Graphics without the high price as the new trend.

They're just new retail configurations of the existing dv9500/dv6500/etc series. Nothing to see here, move along.

Yep, I looked into it as well and they are the same thing as the old models, just different configurations.

Oh...so the dv9600 is not a "newer model" of the current dv9500?
Don't configurations have names like dv95XXX?

Just want to clear things up...

Yes, but what happens when you reach dv9599 ;)....you get dv96xx. Sometimes HP decides to some minor updates and more often than not you wont even hear about it.

For example before Santa Rosa's arrival the retail dv9000 models went from dv90xx to dv94xx. Thats why even though HP publicly announced a 'new' model as the dv9500, it was & is still labeled a dv9000.

Adding to that, HP already has dvX600 retail configurations on their website in AMD form (and they are no different than the dvX500 units from a hardware standpoint).
