Afaik, all HP business notebooks are manufactured by Inventec, which has its main production facility in Shanghai.
I'd like to know if this is still true for anyone who recently purchased an HP Business notebook. Consumer range models are also welcomed, but I guess they might vary between Compal, Quanta and Wistron.
The shipping details are on the box. Alternatively, you can track your orders online at http://orderstatus.hp.com/os/public.tcl?lang=en.
Anyway, here's mine:

From what I read here pretty much all laptops are mfg'd in Shanghai China and the desktops are mfg'd here in the USA.

No almost all laptops are made in Taiwan. I believe inventec included.

We're talking about HP laptops here m8. I know for a fact the laptop in my sig was manufactured in China. If you don't know what you are talking about please don't spout off, its not productive (other than to increase your post count). Do you even have an HP Laptop?

China ....

Since the laptops ship from shanghai, I would imagine that it would not be cost effective to manufacture them in Taiwan, ship them to Shanghai, then ship them to the US. especially since then HP would need to pay customs for two countries...

My 8710W came from Jiangsu, P. Rebublic of China and was sent to Fort Worth TX, which must be one of their storage warehouses.

i got my dv9500t from Shanghai, China.

I'm more interested in the ODM (e.g. Inventec), not the country in particular because they're mostly from Shanghai.

Mine was made by COMPAL.
