I just performed a clean install of Vista SP1 on my new dv2700t system. I replaced the HD with a new 320 GB one, and I forgot to pull off the QuickPlay software from the SW folder.
Is there any place I can download this? This is for the 32-bit version of Vista.
BTW, interestingly enough, a clean install of Vista SP1 found all of my system's drivers -- I didn't have to manually install anything. I did have to run through Windows Update a couple of times, but all of my drivers were found and installed perfectly. That was a very unexpected (and appreciated) surprise!

hp.com, its in the downloads section.

it will be called something like 'Quickplay Web Update' but it is really the full version

Great -- thanks for the info. (Slightly embarassed as I thought this was hard to find!)

HP download section has the update for quickplay. I downloaded it from a 3rd party site, here

This may be a dumb question, but what exactly does QuickPlay do? Does it activate the Play, FF, RR, etc. button? I already have QuickTouch (I think that's the name) installed, and my mute and volume buttons now work.
A little off subject, but should changing the volume make a sound? I get the volume overlay (although it's a bit sluggish, to be honest), but it never makes a ticking sound when changing the volume higher or lower. I do have that feature enabled in BIOS, and I do have a QuickTouch Control Panel item. I will say that I ended up installing QuickTouch twice -- the first time I installed it, it would always come up with an error message every time I restarted Vista.
One more side note -- have any of you tried clean installing from Vista SP1? After running Windows Update, it looks like all of my drivers were installed. I'm wondering if I have the latest drivers for my devices, or whether I should look at the hp downloads site and see if anything is more recent. What do you suggest?
Thanks again for all the great info. I've been a Mac user for a good number of years now, and I'm just making my way back into the Windows world. (Although I use an XP box at work!) -
QuickPlay is hp media player software that allow you to play dvd, watch tv(from a tv tuner), play music, play games etc.
I installed the Vista Sp1 update and but I have not tested the performance. I am not sure but I think it have made the machine a little bit slower. -
Thanks again for your help. -
Quick update. I downloaded the QuickPlay software, and now I understand what it is -- it's sort of like Apple's FrontRow. There are two issues I'm having that I'm hoping others can help me with:
1) Pushing the QuickPlay logo or DVD logo (the first two soft buttons) doesn't seem to do anything when booted into Vista. Shouldn't they at least start up QuickPlay? Note that pushing either button when the system is shutdown starts Vista and loads up QuickPlay.
2) Pushing the QuickPlay buttons (any of them) doesn't result in audible feedback. I thought that pressing those buttons would play a sound effect, but nothing is playing. Note that I do have the BIOS set to play these sounds.
All in all, QuickPlay looks interesting -- especially for DVD playback. Not sure how much I'll really use it, but I'm a bit disappointed that pushing the QuickPlay or DVD logo doesn't seem to do anything when I'm already booted into Vista. I would think it would start the program! I know the soft buttons are working because when I'm in QuickPlay, I'm able to pause, play, fast forward, etc. using those buttons.
Anyway, thanks for any guidance. -
Dont use quicktouch, you only need to install QuickLaunch buttons.
Quicktouch is just the onscreen GUI, its whats causing the lag and slowdowns
Uninstall quicktouch and try this http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=au&lang=en&os=2093&dlc=en&product=3593147 -

The latest notebooks come with Quicktouch which also incorporates the Quick Launch button drivers.
Yes Quicktouch is just those things that pop out your screen, which can be annoying
Where can I download QuickPlay?
