I just bought a new DV6000Z family Pavilion and I can't find the recovery disk maker. On my Compaq Presario, when I first booted, it prompted me to create recovery disks, and kept nagging me until I did. But on this, it's completely silent, and I can't find the option anywhere. I would like to make the recovery disks so I can safely format and install XP (vista sucks).

If I remember correctly, its in the programs files list, maybe under Matinence, or an HP applet of some sort. If not there, try searching for "Recovery System" or "Recovery Disk". If you don't find it before Monday, i'll check at work.

Is it the MS Backup and Restore Center now? My only option there is "back up my files", and it says system and program files will be skipped. I thought HP had its own utility that made actual images of the drive, and not just file backups.
