I have an HP DV6000 (a dv6500) that i'm repairing for my sister. After reading here, I found her problem (she could not power on her laptop) to be the "QuickPlay" board. (I used my dv6646us as a reference for fixing hers). I am wondering where you can get the board + the 2 "cable strips"?

I looked on Ebay, but they only had ones for dv9000 laptops (and i'm not sure if those would work).

    Thanks a lot everyone!!!

Hate to tell you, but you've wasted your time taking your sister's laptop apart. This is a widely known issue with the DV6000 and other series HP notebooks, and one that HP has a Warranty Recall Repair for (it makes no difference if it's out of warranty or not). Hopefully you haven't screwed that up by opening it up and working on it yourself, but probably not since I know of others who have, at least to some extent. I have a friend who had a similar problem with his daughter's system - HP Fedex'd a box to send it to them and had it back to him within 3 business days, Fedexing it back to him.

You can read the Return information at this URL:

In the future, ALWAYS check the Support website of HP or whoever your system vendor is before working on it. I've been fixing systems for a living for over 25 years and it's the first thing I do. Never commit your own resources if the vendor is willing to do so themselves. If they screw it up, they're legally responsible for its replacement - if YOU screw it up, the only one responsible for replacing it is the person in the mirror.
