    Hey.

Where to get latest drivers such as graphics driver for Envy 14?

I heard ATI 11.1 drivers are out, can someone tell me if that will work on envy 14 or not?

I went to hp drivers and there are 2 driver files, one for ati and one for intel, do i install both of them? also do i remove current drivers before installing new one?

    Thanks.

They worked for me, just make sure you download the whole package not just the setup that downloads it afterwards.

For the Catalyst 11.1, it is highly recommend you do. Apparently some people that just install over the old Catalyst 10.x has been reporting problems with the actual driver not updated to right version (8.812.0.0). So yes, highly recommended you do a full, clean uninstallation before installing 11.1.

I just ran the download of 11.1 and it installed, but it is still showing 8.713.0.0 ....... how to fix this?

Um does installing the 11.1s from ATI give you switchable graphics?

That I am not sure to be honest. I never owned a notebook that has support for switchables. However, the Driver Version should still update to 8.812.0.0 regardless on the ATI dedicated card.

Sticking with 10.12. My brightness keys might not work but I can sacrifice that for 5 months of advances..

Have you given this thread a shot yet? It suggests that you'll be able to update to latest drivers and retain switchable graphics.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/6582113-post2587.html

Let me know if it works, I'll be giving it a shot, myself, later on this week.

No, any ATI drivers that I download from their site says the driver is up to date when I try to install over. Its only the 10.12 from opendrivers.com that allow me to update my drivers when installing over.

In most cases, you have to uninstall the ATI Drivers before installing newer ones. Otherwise, the new drivers will never install properly or won't report properly. That is the only way you can get ATI Drivers to work most of the time correctly.

So, in other words, only HP's ATI drivers will support switchable graphics? That's a real shame. 11.1 is much better (performance) than 10.X drivers on my 3870, much more stable as well.

That must of been a modded driver based off of the desktop archtecture. Those occasionally work for some people.

Yes, i can change brightness with keyboard, also I was able to switch to power saving gpu in the ati control panel. I am not sure if its using power saving gpu or not as I dont know how to check, but in Control panel on ati it shows its using power saving gpu so I assume the it is working with switchable graphics

For those with switchable graphics uninstalling isn't really an option.

Care to give the link to the modded drivers? Those are the only ones that usually work.

    ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver

    1/26 version

I just successfully installed over previous version, works fine. Switchable graphics still intact and the screen brightness buttons still work.

They dont support switchable graphics. It is up to the manufacturer to update those. HP has not been the greatest at it since I think they've updated it like 2-3 times and ATI updates every month.

Hotfix does not mean modded. There's an unmodded hotfix available on the AMD site and various modded ones at 3Dguru.

I haven't tried the unmodded drivers directly from AMD, though.

I have been having lots of problems with my system since last Monday. I think the HP update somehow had some big problems. I tried to reinstall the graphics driver caused BSOD. Booting on battery cased BSOD. After talking to 3 people at HP support they decided the part that detected the battery on startup was bad. I had given up on the Envy and had arranged to have it fixed. Then I decided to return the laptop for a full refund.

Before returning I did a system restore. Now - Every Thing Works Great. No BSOD. The point in this thread - I just ran the HF and it installed with no problems. So I guess I am keeping the computer.

Just updated to the 11.1a hotfix (asder mobility mod) and everything seems to be working properly, including brightness controls and switchable graphics. It took me a bunch of tries to get it to work however. Here's what worked in the end:

    1. Express uninstall through the Catalyst installer.
    2. Reboot in Safe mode.
    3. Run ccleaner and then drive sweeper.
    4. Reboot in normal mode.
    5. Install HP ATI package (SP50656 - this is the latest one at HP)
    6. Install 11.1a hotfix asder mobility mod from 3dguru.
    7. Reboot.

What did not work for me was installing any of 11.1, the official 11.1a hotfix or the asder modded 11.1a hotfix without first installing the HP ATI package. Each time I tried it would either not recognize the ATI driver at all or I would get the following error message "The Catalyst Control Centre is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please upgrade your ATI Graphics driver or enable your ATI Adapter using The Displays Manager"

The only way I could get it to work was by doing a clean install of the HP ATI package and then installing 11.1a over that.

I installed them just fine. Are you downloading the 64mb file or w/e it is? or just the 1mb exe? i downloaded with the 64mb file. Granted; I had to run the install twice, since the first time it didnt apply or something.

Omg this is friggin annoying as anything. I uninstall the drivers, says restart. If I load up into safemode and run CCleaner and Driver Sweeper, and then restart and try and get back into normal mode, I have no display. I hear the windows loading noise and can enter my password and eventually shut down.

I can get back into safe mode and the display works again.

To get normal mode to work I can force it to system restore back before I uninstalled the original drivers. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the newer drivers from earlier in this topic doesn't update to the correct version.

I then tried simply uninstalling CCC and all that jazz and booting up into normal mode and installing the HP drivers and then attempting to install the modified drivers over it to get all the latest ATI updates, but as soon as I install the HP updates, I lose the display (it goes completely black) and have to hit enter a couple times to confirm to restart, and bring me back to the normal mode.

Somehow the drivers are back to the original versions from my first version that came with the computer, and I'm unable to install the modded drivers as I get a message in a internet explorer box saying

    "-UI

well i went from the default installed HP graphics drivers straight to 11.2, but i assume you just keep installing new drivers over old ones. IF you uninstall the HP drivers, you apparently lose switchable graphics. but yes, for the 11.2 drivers, get them from the AMD site. i did and mt stuff is all working as it should. On a side note, dose 11.2 still include Tessellation control? i don't have that.

What things should I be "sweeping" in Driver Sweeper? I was just wiping out the entire AMD display... maybe that's my problem. When I get home I'm going to try running the driver sweeper in normal mode and see if it doesn't black out my screen then.

Has anyone gotten this to work over the latest december HP drivers?

Is this the latest version of the CCC and drivers from HP? I'm trying to install the cracked version over but it probably won't work. I'm getting wierd graphical glitches in borderlands where I see like patches of polygons show up through everything... very odd. Figured newer drivers might help...but yeah they're impossible to install lol.
