I had to send in my notebook, (see sig) for repairs.
Apparently quite a few HP/Compaqs are having problems and being sent back more than once for repairs.

HP Pavilion dv6000/dv9000 and Compaq Presario V6000 Series Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement

I can't afford to be down as I use the notebook everyday for my business... so which HP/Compaqs are most reliable? I remember the dv/v 4000 were good, I had one before getting my current one.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a Dell or Gateway if I can't find a suitable HP.
I've owned 5 Dells in the past and none ever broke. That's Reliable!
I'm quite upset about having to send my Compaq in.

Check into HP-Compaq's business line, specifically the 6910p and 8510p models.

They have higher build quality than HP consumer models do.

Yes, look into the 8510/8710 series units. They also come with next day onsite repair which will cut your downtime if you do have a breakdown.

Buisness line has the least amount of issues but it doesn't mean that you are garuntee to have no problems
