I will be purchasing an HP laptop within the next week and need ideas on which one I should get. This will be my first HP laptop, my previous was an alienware but will never buy another one of those due to the price/problems. Anyways the most im willing to spend total will be $800. I will be using it mostly for internet and music.....any ideas will help since im trying to narrow my search down...thanks

I have the HP DV7t, which I believe can be configured for under $800. I love it. I don't really think it is what you want, but I thought I would throw it out there anyways.

It seems you are not planning to game...then the video card should not matter. Focus on the display and processor you want. Bigger display adds bulk!!!

I would suggest go with some thing based on the Core 2 Duo. If you want to save then you can select a Pentium Dual Core(T4200, etc) which is the same as Core 2 Duo but with less cache.

Another thing to consider is HP Business notebooks. They are more well built and HP Business support is awesome.

Someone on Ebay is selling a bunch of HP Business 6530b with 3 year warranty and 3 year accident protection for around $799. I am thinking of getting this for a relative.
