I have a couple of questions. I'm considering purchasing an HP nc6400.

I would prefer the higher resolution 14.1-inch WXGA+ but I've read the reports that this screen is poor. Additionally, it is hard to find in reasonably priced preconfigured packages. How is the 14.1-inch WXGA for use with big spreadsheets?

Also, I've read reports that the VGA out is poor. This would be a fatal flaw for me. This machine would be used with a second screen and this needs to work fine. I prefer to NOT use a docking station.

    Thanks!

I used my nc6400 with the ATI x1300 through VGA on my 22" LCD and it was fine. I didnt think it was bad, maybe becuase I heard it was bad. I just got the docking station for the HP and I didnt think it looked any better via DVI. I didnt do a side by side comparison.

WXGA seems fine for me for excel, i dont think you'll be too disappointed. Even with my decent eyesight, WGXA+ is too small.

I looked at a whole bunch of notebooks today and I agree, WGXA+ is too small for a 14" screen. Every widescreen 14" I saw was 1280*800 and looked just fine. I also know I don't want a glossy screen. They sure look nice but the glare will drive me crazy very quickly.

Good to hear about the VGA.

The VGA out through the laptop itself isn't very good with the GMA950. The VGA output from the docking station with the GMA950 is great.
