I am looking for a notebook with the following specs:
1. T7500(2.2GHz) or higher
2. minimum 2GB RAM
3. minimum 160GB 7200rpm HD
4. 15.4in screen with a minimum 1680x1050 LCD
5. minimum 256MB graphics
6. Bluetooth
7. CDRW/DVDRW
8. Vista OS
Does anyone have any suggestions for a high performing HP notebook with the above minimum specs ?
Also, I have heard that the HP Compaq business notebooks are more reliable and better put together than the HP Pavilions...
Thanks

yep, the build quality of the business notebooks is way better than the consumer class builds. and the support semms to be better too.
have a look for the hp 8510 p or 8510w model.
p is performance and w is for workstation. the difference is mainly the graphics card. while the 8510p has an ati hd2600 the 8510w comes with a professional opengl card ( quadro fx 570m or ati firegl v5600m) -
HP Pavilion dv6500 for an entertainment notebook
or
HP 8510 for business notebooks (as above) -
the dv9xxx series if you want a big screen, the 6xxx series if you want more portability.

If you're coming from the Thinkpad, you must get the business models (8510p/w) which are equivalent in build quality and performance. If you get the Pavillion, chances are you won't be satisfied. The Pavillion is likely to suffer overheat problems, have a poorer touchpad and keyboard as well as relatively poor service repairs turnaround.
HP service is one of those where you literally get what you paid for. I've had an el cheapo Pavillion taking 3 weeks to be repaired, but an nc8430 repaired in 3 days with express shipment of critical parts. The commercial portable support call centre is also way more knowledgeable and does't waste your time by reading troubleshooting scripts as long as you know the exact problem and explain it to them. -
go buisness class , no doubt about it ! support seems to know what they are doing and actually call back until problem is solved , at least in my case . plus it is 3 years warranty , onsite for the w line .
Which HP notebook to get ???
