Hello all, my first thread here but I've recently purchased an HP dv6305us.

I found a Toshiba for $449 at Office Depot thanks to the NBR deals page and when I got there I found this HP instead for $519 with a free 2GB readyboost flash drive (all of course after rebates). The laptop has the following:

    AMD X2 TL-50 1.6
    512 DDR2 SDRAM
    80GB
    nVidia 6150

All I'm lacking is more memory. As the 512 takes up only one slot I want to get 1GB of compatible memory. Anyone know exactly what I need? And also a place to get it?

Also, this PC is no where near what some of you have... but compared to what I did have... I've added a DVD burner, a DVD player, something that can sync with my iPod (so I can stop using my friends), a laptop I can unplug (my old one's battery didn't hold a charge, and just a bunch of speed over my old Pent 3 with 96MB of ram. It took seconds to scroll something to my printer. And photo editting... forget it!

Now... back to the Ram... which one and where do I get?

Have a look at the hot ram deals thread to find great deals on ram. The current ram market is in a slump so you should be able to pick up ram fairly cheaply right now. You should be looking at either DDR2 533mhz or DDR2 667mhz ram for your notebook :) .

I just upgraded my dv2000z from 1gb to 2gb. It made a world of difference. I went with G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory, from newegg.com. I would definitely recommend going 2gb with vista. Man it seems like they have already raised the price tho
