I need to know which hard drive would be more ideal for Compaq M2105 CA laptop?? I am looking at to get one hard drive in external with hard drive enclosure to plug in 2.0 USB. I know any hard drive will be able to run with this laptop but I would prefer to have an answer from experienced laptop users not like me. I am no computer nerd at all. Look for a reply about this soon.

    Thank you,

If you are looking to buy an external HDD for extra storage I would say go to BestBuy and purchase a Western Digital Passport. They make the small 2.5inch HDD ones that go up to 320GB.The nice thing about these HDDs is that they power off of USB as well so you only have one plug.

    250GB $140:

    320GB $210:

If you are looking to purchase a internal HDD and then buy a external enclosure to put your current HDD in I would go and look at www.newegg.com. If you have a SATA connection on your laptop they a nice 250GB 7200RPM HDD for a decent price.

Any external USB 2.0 hard drive should do the trick. 3.5" ones offer the best value in terms of storage for the money, but requires an additional power connector, so you'd have to plug in 2 cables -- the USB and the power. 2.5" external hard drives offer less storage, are more expensive, but are smaller and only use a single USB plug since it can draw enough power from your computer.

But if you're interested in actually replacing the internal hard drive, look for 2.5" internal PATA, also known as IDE. The newer SATA drives would not be compatible.
