6t SE has faster GPU
6t QE has faster CPU and Blu-Ray
So depends on what you're after. -
i too am looking at the same builds. Bottom line... is it worth $80 for the quad core?
usually i would wait a year and install an i7-quad cpu from ebay
I could careless about the blueray and would opt out in a second if i could get a small credit. -
Again, depends on what you plan to do with it. $80 is a fair up charge for a quad and blu-ray, heck just for the quad core. But the 7470m GPU is not a very worthy gaming card. It's bottom of the mid-grade cards. Expect 720p low details for any newer games. The 7690m on the other hand is a great GPU. Most newer games at 1080p medium detail, or 720p high/ultra.
But if gaming isn't your thing then the quad core is a decent deal for an $80 up charge. -
ah,
i overlooked the gpu differnce. I was looking at both with the 7690. looks like a 150ish difference. leaning toward the i5/7690.
I will use it for some gaming - SWTOR, would like to play medium high/ high settings. currently playing on a 9600m GT clocked to 9700. plays decent on low(30-40 fps) at 1280x800.
wow just looked at my signup date... been lurking here for 3 years and its my first post. that proves the search button works, i have learned mountains of stuff from the people here over the years. -
Quad Cores are not completely necessary if you plan to play games. Some games are able to take advantage of more cores, but many do not have that ability.
For CPU intensive tasks, the i7 would be better, but for gaming choose the 7690 over the 7470. -
yes, it all really depends on what you want to do with it.
Which is the Best Deal
