I have DV2310CA it is sent to cali for repair
regarding HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us

Now the turn around time is so long so I decided to buy another cheap laptop Compaq CQ50-110US - which got
    PRO:
    Turion X2 RM-70 Processor
    3GB ram
    200GB HD

    CONS:
    no webcam - no remote
    heavier 6.2 lbs
    runs cooler

My DV2310CA should be back next week - I have own it for 2 years and so far it's been good beside this problem - in the mother board - I think

    DV2310CA its got
    Pro:
    Lighter in terms of weight
    Webcam and remote

    CONS:
Runs warmer on your palm after a while
    Turion X2 TL-52 - slower than RM-70 I assume?
    160 GB - Less HD
2 GB ram - Less Ram
There is a recall - more chance for more problem after the fix ?? *I don't know

I thinking to sell one of them
but I am not sure which one worth more to keep :)

Wondering if anyone could pitch in their experience with DV series laptop

I am planning to keep the laptop for long period of time by taking care of them

Which one is a better built overall / which one is more reliable in the long run?
    any opinions ?

    thank you

HP is still catching up from the mess Hurricane Ike made of their Texas repair center so their stated shipping estimates are wildly inaccurate. They just missed my second one. Don't plan on anything until they send you a tracking number.

I'd keep the newer notebook. I'd have recommended buying a dv4z series notebook, which is the direct replacement for your dv2000 series and has an ATI chipset instead of NVIDIA.
