Hi guys. My HP Pavilion ze4125 no longer charges the battery - gives a blinking orange charge light, and when running on battery power I get an X over the battery life systray icon. I'm guessing the mobo is hosed.

So when looking on ebay, which mobos are compatible with this laptop? ze4xxx? compaq presario 2100? i'm not really sure where I would find this info out..

the battery may just be dead, not meaning dischared, after a while, L-ion battery's loose thier ability to charge or hold a charge. That maybe the reason. Try purchasing a new battery before a motherboard.

    Hope I could Help

right, i should have mentioned that i already purchased a new battery, and strangely, it worked for a week or two, but then the problem of blinking orange came back. i'm pretty sure the motherboard is bad. in any case, the power jack is hanging on its last thread (very finnicky)...

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you might be able to find a replacement power jack on ebay. There are also some notebook repair shops that can replace the jack for you instead of changing the motherboard.

If you really need a replacement motherboard, download the ze4125 maintenance and service guide from the support section of www.hp.com. The guide contains the parts list for your computer.
