I finally decided on the computer, now I need to decide on the processor. I'll be using it for Web, occasional DVD movies, and photo editing with Photoshop Elements and Canon Digital Photo Professional and EOS viewer.
The Celeron 370 1.5g is the cheapest. I know I wouldn't get as much battery life, but I'll usually be turning the computer off instead of letting it go into sleep mode.
The Pentium M 1.6g is $200 more.
The Turion is coming too...
I play to get 512mb of memory to start, and I may add memory if I need it.
So, which processor to pick????
Thanks!

Performance wise, the Celeron M 370 will perform fairly well. But as you indicated, the battery life will be a lot less. If you need the system a lot while you're on the road and way from an electrical outlet, then get the Pentium M. There's currently no CPU that can compare to Intel's Pentium M CPU in power savings.
Personally, I'd go with the Pentium M CPU. I usually recommend people to buy more than what they currently need. In a couple years, your system will still be decent, but if you got a lower system, it'll be out-of-date.

Wait for the L2000, which is essentially the Turion version of the dv1000. Better GPU and networking too. June 22nd, they say.

I second Brian, wait for the HP L2000, if you dont like all the Livestrong logo's all over the laptop then there is the Compaq V2000Z - essentially the same but in silver Compaq colors and no branding. The graphics card on the Turions - the 200m is much better than the GMA 900's on the DV1000.
But if you do want to pick between the Celeron M & the Pentium M, then I would say get the P-M. The Cele's are fine, but the compromises they make to keep them within budget are important features atleast for a laptop. With the Celeron's you will have a hotter running laptop and I suppose the fans consequently run longer.
The Turion versions are supposed to be released on the 22nd. I would say wait for it,but if you do want a dv1000 then get the P-M.

HP announced yesterday that the DV1000 would support the AMD Turion.

Yes as far as I know HP will offer AMD CPU choices in most of their notebooks. I honestly did not expect that... And I have a hard time beleave it before I see it!
