I'm in the process of getting my laptop replaced through warranty and I was given a tough choice of which one to accept:

    Current setup:
    Envy 15

    Windows 8.1 64
    4th generation Intel® Core™ i7-4702MQ Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M Graphics with 4096MB of dedicated video memory
15.6-inch diagonal Full HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1920x1080)
    8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
24GB flash Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
    No Additional Office Software
    Security Software Trial
    6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
No Internal DVD or CD Drive
    Backlit Keyboard
HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Dual Digital Microphone, Fingerprint Reader
    802.11b/g/n WLAN [1x1]

    Replacement Option #1:
    Envy 15

    Windows 10 Home 64
    6th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ Quad Core Processor + Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
    8GB DDR3L System Memory (1 Dimm)
15.6-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit IPS Display (1920x1080)
1TB 5400 rpm Hybrid Hard Drive
    Office Software Trial
    Security Software Trial
    6-cell 62WHr Lithium-ion Battery
    No DVD or CD Drive
    Backlit Keyboard
HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Dual Digital Microphone
    Intel 802.11ac WLAN and Bluetooth(R) [1x1]

    Replacement Option #2:
    HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook

    • Operating system: Windows 10 Home(1b)
    • Processor: 6th generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ(2b)
    • Memory: 8GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 DIMM)
    • Hard drive: 1TB 5400RPM hard drive(4b)
    • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX950M
    • Audio: B&O PLAY with dual speakers
    • Optical drive: SuperMulti DVD burner(6c)
    • Product weight: 5.12 lb(76)

    • Keyboard: Full-size island-style backlit keyboard

Option 1 is amazing except it does not have a dedicated GPU. Option 2 has it all except it looks too unprofessional to me. I like to use my laptop at the workplace and the Envy blends right in as a professional laptop.

    Which one would you pick?

I guess it comes down to usage. If you need a dedicated GPU (and you should know if you do) then your choice is simple. Do you have a gaming desktop? If you stream and web browse than option 1.

Both choices doesnt make any sense. Your replacement should be a Envy 15 with a dedicated 950GTX not a HP Pavilion which is built cheaper than the ENVY. Normally replacements is a recent model of your previous laptop with similar specs. I think you should get option 2 but then sell it if you dont want it otherwise go with option 1 if you not gonna play any recent games

Thanks for the help guys. After going back and forth with the HP case manager, they finally agreed to give me an Envy 15 with a dedicated GPU. It came at the expense of the OS SSD the original one came with. Overall I think it was a pretty fair offer.
