Which should be better? Envy 15 vs. dv6t Quad ed.? [Spec & Price inside]

I've been researching and been hearing a lot of good things about ENVY series, but taking the price difference and "better" graphic card option on dv6t quad ed., which one would you recommend?

The GPU on the dv6t is not really better. You will rarely if ever use the extra GB of video ram.

The dv6t also has a slower hard drive in your setup.

And you need to consider build quality, I like the backlit keyboard and looks of the ENVY better (But this comes down to personal opinion)

I am thinking of buying envy 15 from amazon, as it is still cheaper to buy it from amazon than from hp even with the 33% coupon... and build quality is definitely important!

 

What are the specs of the amazon model?

 

The Amazon model is the same as the $1300 "quick-ship" model on HP's site, except $150 cheaper.
If you customize a build to be identical to the prebuilt, the 30% off code puts it at roughly the same price as Amazon's.

I had the dv6 (select edition) before I returned it and got an Envy (previous owner of Envy 14 1000 CTO). I returned it because of a hardware issue (faulty graphics card) and decided not to re-buy it. I felt the build quality was super cheap. People complain of keyboard flex on the Envy ... the dv6 is probably three times worse. Optical drive was impossible to open without shoving your finger nail into the eject button. A whole lot of plastic parts and the lack of a backlit keyboard annoyed me. The mouse pad was also annoying, as "clicking" was crazy loud and very "plastic" sounding. The upgraded HD screen, however, was beautiful.

 

When you compare the DV6 and the ENVY 15... it is like comparing mainstream vs premium... Get the idea?

 

Just keep in mind that the Amazon model only has a one year warranty whereas the custom one from HP has a two year warranty.

but I contacted the sales person and got confirmed that envy 15 is indeed covered by 2 years limited warranty from HP!

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is a problem with Envy 15 1080P. RED appears to be Orange. ... there is no real RED colors on the screen. Some how the screen colors are messed up. Try going on paint program or type in RED Rose on google or anything that is red, it will show you orange. :|

I bought one the other day but I had to return it. This problem seems to happen only with 1080P Envy 15. The Envy 17 does not have this problem. You can find out more about it, it's all over the internet.

Anyways just wanted let you guys know so you are aware of this.

Envy 15 vs dv6... I would say Envy 15 is better.
