I have an old Compaq 710TU laptop that I upgraded over a year ago with a T9300 Core 2 Duo, 3Gb RAM, 128Gb SSD OCZ Vertex 4 & Windows 8.1.

Just recently, about 8 times out of 10, when I turn the computer on it starts to load but I can only see a white screen until the Windows login screen appears. After that it works fine.

The other 2 out of 10 times, it loads normally - showing the Compaq logo and the BIOS boot options (press F9, F10 etc) before getting to the Windows login screen.

Sometimes the white screen has very faint vertical coloured lines on it. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
