I would be really interested to know, based on NBR users who you think has the best customer support for computers! Please give an honest answer or share an experience that best reflects your opinion!

    Thanks in advance.

Dell - I have had the most experience with dell support for servers/desktops/laptop in K12/Medium Business/Personal. They stand behind their products pretty well. You definitely get much faster support if you are not a home user though. It is also really easy to verify warranty status and renew.

HP - I have had limited dealings with HP but everything so far has been positive. I liked being able to arrange a tech support visit via online chat (my HP Elitebook 8740w). I am not a fan of their warranty look ups and renewals. Rather than look up care pack part numbers I want to deal with HP directly. Looking up the warranty status should be as simple as Dell's support site. I do however like how fast it is to find models and access drivers. Also HP should make it easier for end users to purchase refurbs!

Gateway - If you need support, currently it is a nightmare. Gateway's support is now handled by someone else and it feels very disconnected. They definitely are not as concerned with customer resolution/happiness as Dell/HP.

Asus - I currently also own a Asus G73 laptop. All the stories of repeated returns, extended delays (eg 20 days down without a working unit), ect, have be very concerned. Hopefully I never have to contact support.

NBR does. Seriously. Hands down the best.

Everyone else (manufacturer's tech support call centers) just read from a script and troubleshooting tree which usually begins and ends with a reinstall of the OS. To be fair though, many computer buyers do not know how to properly describe their issue. Given their rudimentary knowledge, a rudimentary level of tech support is to be expected.

Though, some of the Sager/Clevo resellers tend to be more knowledgeable about the products they sell. And so render better tech support.

    Hehe, that's true!

From my personal experience HP (business) has a very decent support. I've dealt with many companies in many countries in the past (IT) and the way I see it, HP, Dell and Lenovo all have a very good support in the business sector.

Consumer sector is a disaster, IMHO. A broken chain of redirected phone calls, agents that have minor to zero (most of the time) helpdesk experience combined with a strong accent and not always great communication skills. Worst yet, is when third party outsourcing companies are utilized for warranty services and the end user often ends up having his/her bleeding edge machine torn apart by a techie who has never seen/touched such or similar system before.

    Just my 2 cents here

For laptops/desktops/servers I have only dealt with Dell Business, HP Business, HP Home/Consumer, and Lenovo Business Technical Support.

With Dell Business and Lenovo Business Technical Support, I never had any problems with their departments in resolving issues.

In dealing with HP Business and their Home/Consumer side, my experience is that I have to ready myself for some arguing to resolve hardware issues.

Overall, I feel comfortable purchasing Dell or Lenovo business units for their support. With a HP purchase, as top notch as the machine may be, I pray that nothing breaks.
