I plan to order one before NB8474 ($200 off $999 or above) coupon expires. I was going to buy the DV8000T, but the keyboard problem is really annoying. I went to best buy to day and both DV8000T and DV5000T had problems. I asked the BB dude to explain me why the keyboard doesn't work. He told me someone must have disabled some part of the keys for security reasons. Then I asked how come it's not on the DV2000? Then he lied to be saying he needs to help someone real quick. Terrible. Hahaha... anyways, the DV6000T now has Merom and GeForce Go 7400. Woot! Share your spec!

I'm ordering it without extended warantee for now... Since you have one year to buy extended, I thought ordering it as late as possible (or whenever a problem occurs) is the best. What do you guys think?

    Unfortunately, the coupon doesn't work.

It was first 600 people. I tried to use it on my custom dv5000t, it showed it worked in the shopping cart but when my order was submitted it wasn't redeemed. Then I called customer service like 3 times and they said it was a promotion for first 600 people.

I just wanted to let you guys know this so you don't make the same mistake I did. WHen I saw the coupon on gottadeal I got real excited and upgraded over $200 worth of stuff (bigger HDD and went from 1.83 to 2.0ghz) and now I'm going to have to pay for it because I thought hte coupon was going to cover it.

Wait you mean it doesn't even give you an updated sum? Just charges you 200 more?

    NO NO NO.

When you fill in your billing info, you type in the coupon (that I did). Then it goes to a order preview page where it shows you the total price + rebates + instant savings + coupon. On the order preview page it showed that the coupon deducted $200 from the total price (instead of it being $1200 it was $1000). Then when I hit "SUBMIT ORDER" and after it processed I looked at the Order Confirmation page and noticed the coupon wasn't there.

I then called HP customer service about 3 times in 2 days.

    First response:
"We don't combine coupons with other promotions." I was skeptical about that because the coupon said ALL CUSTOMIZEABLE LAPTOPS and every customizeable laptop had some type of free upgrade/instant savings/promotion.

So then I called again, and their second response was:
"I was told by my manager that it was a 600 person limit"

Third response a day later (just to test what they were saying):
"Yeah I'm being told that the reason your coupon isn't working is because when the order is being processed the system checks to see if the coupon is valid and apparently yours is invalid. Since its a third party coupon, its only valid for the first 600 people".

Hope that helps you, but yeah I was extremely pissed off.

The only way to try it is to submit an order... which I don't recommend doing. The main reason I used the coupon obviously was so I could add more upgrades to it and still pay the same price I had intended w/ my budget. Now it turns out I have to pay $200 more than what my budget is.

If you want to make sure, call the HP customer service order page and ask them.

    Hey CHIAROSCURIST,

Just bought my dv6000t yesterday. I spent quite a bit of time in Best Buy over the last few weeks looking over different models and brands of notebooks. The dv6000z (not t) really stood out, and I held off knowing HP would soon be releasing the 6000 series with Intel Chip options. It was worth the wait, and my system is now in the process of being built, at the price of $1600 after the $200 discount coupon (also have a $50 mail-in rebate, so it will come to $1550 when all is said and done). The specs are:

    - Genuine Windows XP Professional
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83 GHz)
    - FREE Upgrade to 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen!!
    - 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
    - HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone
    - 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
    - 80 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
    - 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Office 2003 Basic
    - Norton Internet Security 2006 - 15 Mo Subscription
    - System Recovery DVD w/Windows XP Professional

    Oh Yeah

I canceled my order (placed Monday) for a DV5000t, and ordered the
DV6000t yesterday. They offered me 5% off if I kept my old order, but I passed. Forget about using the coupon code, and order from the HP Academic Purchase Program instead. I came out with a cheaper price than If I had used the $200 coupon and the $50 rebate. Just be creative about the college or school you tell them you go to. I told them the college I went to in the 1980's, and I got no hassles...

    - Genuine Windows XP Professional
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00 GHz)
    - 15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
    - 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
    - HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    - 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB)
    - 120 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
    - Combo including DigitalMedia Deluxe & MyDVD Deluxe
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
    - 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works/Money
    - Corel Combo - Photo Album 6 & Paint Shop Pro X
    - System Recovery DVD w/Windows XP Professional

My total price for this LOADED system, including xtra software, Florids Sales tax, was $2075.49.
