Okay simple question that could really help... it seems the answer to the question "why should one pick envy over pavillion?" is better built??
is it really that much better? why should i go with envy over pv?
where i can get same/better specs on pv for a cheaper price... plus bluray...
will envy has a longer longevity of use?
Was gonna get an Envy but now somewhat interested in the PV... I want something good though, is pv really that bad built? not premium?

They're both built pretty well and have their own faults... As far as premium, the ENVY holds up that name. The newer 15 and 17 series are built really well and I would say go for an Envy instead of the Pavilion series..

Definitely has to do with build and design. The Envy 15 that I owned a while back (returned it to wait for IB and 7750) had a Macbook Pro feel to it. The keyboard felt solid with minimal flex, the slot-loading disc drive was convenient and the volume knob had a nice weight to it. The cooling design was also different which may or may not lend itself better to lowering overall temps while gaming.
That said, the Pavilions are nice and solid built systems as well. They just don't look or feel as nice as the Envy. It's kind of like asking yourself why buy a Lexus over a Toyota. They'll all get good mileage and get you from place to place. One just feels a little nicer doing so. -
like how u put it. the reason they are expensive is cause its the "premium" brand. they are made of metal vs plastic in the pavillions, they are thinner/ slicker looking, they seem more sturdy, both come with basically the same specs but you would also probably be getting better cooling

The NVIDIA 650m is much faster than the 5830m and 7690m GPUs that were available in the 2nd and 3rd gen Envy 15 laptops. As the 5830m can already handle most games at 1080p, the 650m should deliver even better framerates for demanding games at 1080p.
Why Envy, not PV?
