Hey ive been looking around at laptops for a while now and I was pretty committed to the HP 6500t. I play games but im not a hardcore gamer. I want a nice mix of gaming ability and mobility for college. I really like the 6500t, but some of the Sager and Clevo notebooks look very niec. Im worried about getting one of those though. Whats the advantages of getting a big name like hp over a boutique brand?

There isn't much really, but perhaps personal comfort levels? HP also has accidental warranty which you can rarely find at dealers of other brands like Compal, Sager and ASUS. To be honest, getting a Compal IFL90 or something similiar may be a better idea, it's more powerful(again, it may not matter to you), quite portable and has a decent battery life. Support is not 24/7 however they have real people working in the dealer's store, support is not outsourced like alot of larger brands. Another factor is that you can easily find and play with such notebooks at stores, whileas the lesser known brands you can't.
In the end, it's all about personal preference on a few factors mentioned above.
Why HP?
