I have noticed that the MacBook Pro is now at Best Buy. The Envy seems to be something you have to know about and obtain online, however. I have seen only one in a retail store, an Ultimate that is about to close. I don't understand why HP doesn't put them in more stores. I don't see how Envy can successfully compete with the Pro without being as readily available and more widely known that it currently is.

Also, there was some announcement that HP is going to open their first store somewhere I forget. Yes!!!! A real HP store so you can tinker with HP computers.... Apple is done for! HAHAHA, J/K...but competition is gonna be nice. Hopefully this will push both Apple, HP, and other computer makers to bring us the most updated products with great innovations in tech, can't wait!

Other than MBPs how many other $950+ laptops do you see in Bestbuy stores? Not many - almost none. BestBuy in store stock is to push to the instant buyer. They keep most of their higher end products as on-line only.
Beyond Bestbuy and Staples don't know anyone else that really stocks anything but budget laptops. Maybe if you are lucky enough to live in a town with a Frys, but in our town no such luck. -

The last time I was in a Best Buy (back in January of this year) they had an entire setup dedicated to showing off the Envy 14.

Best buy has a deal with apple, their upscale stores tend to have a very large floor space dedicated to their hardware.
Staples used to carry the envy in store at select locations, but has since clearanced off the laptop.
In general though, it is rare to find 800+ laptops represented well in retail, look at sony vaios. -
The beats edition E14 is as my local Frys. It's pretty nice, but has a crappy touchpad, as is usual for HP nowadays...

In all honesty, here in the U.K., they have the 14 and 17 in PC World and while looking through all of the machine, they don't exactly jump out from all the others.
When I grabbed an Envy 13, two things hit me straight away, "What a nice keyboard" and, "wow, this screen is amazing".
Damn shame that they don't have the radiance screen anymore. (Hence this is the reason why I've owned the 13 far longer than any other laptop as it's so damn nice). Maybe HP need to get out there, launch the Sandybridge Envy collection with improved screen and darn well PUSH THEM! if they're PREMIUM then MAKE THEM premium. -
Good luck with that. Retail stores know the average Joe is not gonna pay for $900 for a laptop at best buy unless he had seen it on commercials touting its magical glitteriness and exuberantly shiny alu-magnesi-unobtainium unibody design.

+rep for sure.

They had the Envy 14, and the Envy 14 Beats edition at microcenter.

YouTube - Dr. Dre "HP Envy Commercial"
lol I guess I didn't watch enough TV. It's pretty cool and anatomically inaccurate at the same time, I dunno what to think. -
I have never seen that commercial. The one I saw always featured the dv7 at the end.

Usually people looking at laptops that expensive know what they want from one and are (usually) smart enough to not buy in a retail store
In our store, whenever we have a laptop go below 500 dollars it's always the first thing out of stock in the store; I've even had people pick lower performance computers only because of the color...
Why aren't Envys at more stores?
