Its kind of like going back in technology. Once these fingerprint readers have become a standard on notebooks, why did hp take them off from all new series notebooks?
-
Because they are worthless ?
-
What are they worthless for? I use it every day. Saves me time typing that long password I have for login, then login into websites with just a swipe. They are time saver, thats what they are!!
-
that you use it every day does not mean it can't be easily circumvented.
-
Totally agree!!! Before buying my laptop I couldn't have cared less about having one, but it was a freebie that came installed on my dv5t, and boy, was I surprised. I grew to LOVE the fingerprint reader. I use it tons of times every day -- every time I log onto a website that has a password, bingo, one swipe and I'm in!
-
Would take me about 5 minutes or less to have acess to your laptop and all your websites and ruining your life.at least with a proper password it could take hours to get in
-
Same here, it came bundled with my system and I'm surprised at how useful it is. Also, Digital Persona is actually pretty damn good.
-
Since security information should be shared between users, surely you can describe exactly how fingerprint security is worse than password security?
-
There was an episode of mythbusters where they got someone's fingerprint from a cd case and used it to break into a computer that was protected with a fingerprint reader ---> of course it depends on the quality of the reader
Thats not to say that is the reason HP took them off, the real reason idk -
so what you guys really want is a password system that you don't have to think about.
Look at keepass. -
Personally i would like a smart card security solution. Insert card+password then everything is accessible, remove the smartcard and the computer locks.
-
Hp offers this on most business laptops, sometimes standard, other wise its a low-cost option
Why do the new HP notebook model dont have fingerprint reader option?
