My friend has an ACER for laptop. He plugged a cable from his DS to his laptop (line - in jack) and he was using his laptop as speakers. How come my HP can't do this? I heard they disabled it or something. Anyone know?

Check in the control panel under sounds or under your specific sound card control panel.
-
I see the mic thing detecting sound but it it isn't playing it.
-
Hmmmm. Maybe you need a media player running that plays the audio input? Frankly, I haven't messed with this before.
-
No, I don't think so... But who knows. I could be wrong.
-
In XP you just have unmute the Line IN setting and it will start playing out of the speakers. Not too sure about vista though
-
Yeah, that's the problem i ahve with vista.
-
yeah, ive noticed that vista's audio provisions kind of suck. nothing in audacity seems to work right...
-
Does anyone have a solution?

Check these 2 links out.
I going to try the Dell procedure 1st.

Well I tried all the suggestions in the 2 links. I added the registry keys and couldn't get it to work.
I wish you luck.
Why does my input sound not play?
