I noticed that HP has re-categorized its notebook section at its online store. DV6700t is now under Versatile Performance section instead of Entertainment. It doesnt matter what they name the section, but one thing I noticed they have added T8xxx series in the processor option while took T7500 completely out of the options. I got that processor in my notebook, so am wondering if it has any other reason than probably T7500 and T8100 are close in their prices...

Well, the T8100 is a new Penryn processor so it runs cooler and gives slightly longer battery life compared to the T7500. In terms of raw performance in most situations they will perform virtually identically.

but people tend to pay more for a new CPU like the T8100, even if it is slower than the T7500.

that's why I ordered the cheaper T7500 while it was still there to sell.

Penryns are not worth the bill untill next Penryns with Montevina are out in June or July.

I really believe these T7250, T7300 and T7500 are currently the best value cPUs out there , sweet spot of CPUs.

I would also like to know the reason. Also can the T-7500 be replaced by one of the T-8XXX series processors. Thanks

it was slower and so I exchange it to the T8300 model, but then you will have to about 100us more for just 300mhz.

it 's easy but not worth the effort and your time.

the T7500 is NOT slower than the T8100 in any test , how could it be , it's got more L2cache , faster CS and the same 800FSB.

I saw many benchmarks,in some test T8100 is a bit faster but in many others it is slower than the T7500.

    and it is not cooler.

also it does not do anything with real life battery life.

see PC mobile score of it , the same score as that of the T7300.
