Why no news on HP Dv5z? The Puma based DV5. Not even a review? Isn't it suppose to be out already? I don't see it at my local notebook stores here in Singapore.
-
Jeez, it's only been on HP's website for 3 days.
Wait a week or two. -
Well, not even one day later Dell Studio was announced, there are already multiple reviews on it.
-
Or you could buy one and make a review
-
These things just entered general production, so I'd expect the first batch to be out by next week or so if there aren't any part delays.
-
Somebody has got to tell us how does the new integrated AMD graphics card score on today's games.
-
This should give you an idea.

On the HP site it says they are only available online, and the production date if you order one now is around the 20th of july, so its not surprising nobody has one.
Although its a bit strange hp haven't sent any to the press to be reviewed. -
It is my understanding that a review model has been sent to NBR staff so I would expect a review of this in a week or two.
-
20th July? Bummer, I thought its all available immediately and stuff.
-
its out already..abysmal specs
-
Not really.. no one realy knows how an HD3450 crossfire'd with a HD3200 will do
-
is the dv5 going to have an LED display? will any of the HP notebooks have it? (might have to buy an Apple, cause i'm not going to buy a dell just to get an LED display.)
-
dv4t will, the others might, i'm not sure.
-
it's AMD in a 15" notebook, what do you expect? the intel dv5t will be a lot nicer.
-
i found it strange. in their initial description of the notebooks, they went all out on the description of the dv4, but only a few sentences on the dv5 and dv7. crazy.
-
its AMD with a mobile processor developed more from the ground up. this is quite a big leap over the past cpus which were just mobile derivatives. this is like intel trying the pentium M... just a little late though. Still not bad for an underdog company trying to pull out of a crappy financial and tech situation.
intel laptops are only a lot nicer in cpu power aspect. integrated graphics versus 780g loses by a lot just in general.
the puma platform doesn't have a strong cpu. it was intended for multimedia purposes imo. this is superior to the intel platform for the most part. not everyone needs strong processing power and the ability to go past 5 hours of battery life. i would gladly ditch my intel + 8400m gs for this. plus it has native High definition content decoding
other than the cpu/chipset difference there is no "nicer" part to the intel version lol.
just as a reference for some people. 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo + 8400m GS will get approximately 1400 3dmark06.
according to a NBR, a 2.4 ghz AMD ZM (aren't they similar im pricing to intel 2.4 for 2.0? or am i hallucinating) with the integrated gets about 1500s 3dmark06. on top of the fact the hd3200 isn't very good and that there is still the 3450 which you can STILL crossfire. i would say amd has made an admirable platform for mainstream laptop gaming. -
you cant compare this GPU to geforce 9600GT which hopefully be in the T line...i still favor intel+nvidia any day over AMD..
-
me too, it is weird. i don't think HP has actually finalized what exactly they're going to offer on the new dv series. their demo and literature on the dv5z is already out of date and wrong about the tv tuner.
yeah there's the crossfire aspect, i'll admit i don't know very much about it and it probably performs better. i think a lot of the negativity has to do with Dell pairing the 3450 w/ an intel processor on the new Studio notebooks. -
So did anyone get this laptop yet?

Didnt see that thread, thanks!!!
