I recently purchased an HP Envy 15 J001TX. Its Wifi looks good, as I never came across any connectivity issue. The moment it boots, it is connected with internet.

However, when I go to my dad's office room, which is in the house, but more than 10 meters away from the Wifi router, I face connectivity issue, as the signal sterngth looks weak and even if it is connected with router the internet looks inconsistant. This is an issue which I am also facing with my 1 year old HP Dv6-T laptop.

Although my cellphone (Lumia 920) and dad's iPad 2 wifi works perfectly fine in that room. I've read somewhere in this threads, that these laptops don't have dual band wifi or something like that.

So which one of these options should I go for?,

    1) Should I fix a repeater in dad's room?

    2) Should I replace the WiFi card of the laptops?

    3) Should I change the the router?
