    First off, i have a compaq v2000z.
I have noticed that when i pay dvd's in intervideo, i still have large black bars on the top and bottom of my screen. I thought it was strange because i know the ratio on the screen is 16:10 and the DVD is 16:9 so it should just have small black bars.\

Any thoughts on why it has black bars?

    thanks

Simple, for intervideo you have the option to choose widescreen option or not. It is under Setup and preferences if you got Intervideo 6. Let me know if that solved your problem... :p

I know some DVDs are not properly scaled during authoring and I agree windvd sucks.

You got Limewire or something for DL stuff? You can get a copy of intervideo 6 and have a code generator.....That version will automatically scale your widescreen for excellent movie watching....and free!
