    What system are you using?

What are the problems with the WiFi? Are you getting an error that it can't connect? Is the school network showing up under available wireless networks? Is there security on the network that may require you to contact someone at the school to set you up?

Also, for the resolution, you're laptop LCD has a native resolution and you should probably keep it at that. The screen will look bad even if you are able to change the resolution.

Do you have wireless enabled in the BIOS???Do you have a wireless button on the laptop itself???and if so, try pushing it once....

Can you connect at the school? Closer then you are?

If you can, then it may just be signal strength.

What's the native resolution of your large LCD screen? You may want to update your video card drivers. There is a sticky in the graphics forum that tells you the best places to go and what version you will need. Do you have a discrete graphics card or is your integrated? If yours is integrated it might be that the GPU just isn't powerful enough to output to that resolution.

As for the wireless connection: Is the wireless network listed in available wireless networks? Is it a secure network? Some wireless networks exclude all connections unless they are in the allowed list. Can you connect to any other wireless networks?

Umm... let's start with the model of your laptop and move from there. Can't really help you if we don't even know that.
