As the title says, I was just wondering if anyone knows if HP plans on ever putting better graphics cards in the DV1000 notebooks?

I'm also very curious about this, since they eventually put a better video card in the DV4000. How about the DV1000 HP??

It would be nice if they added a dedicated GPU option like they did to the dv4000. It is a possibility, and HP would have the 14" market basically in the palm of their hand if they stuck in a GPU.

There may be problems, though - heat and power consumption issues at the forefront.

I say unlikely since it made for mobility.

I understand what you are saying, but look at the Sony S series. I have an S360 and it can handle some amazing video tasks and it is smaller than the DV1000. I think that if HP put in a dedicated video card it would be better than Sony's S line.

HP will most likely release a new model if they are going to put in a dedicated GPU. There may not be room on the motherboard for one in their current DV1000, and it's not worth it for them to change it. Better off releasing a new model.

I've mentioned several times before that the Toshiba M50 series and Asus W3V are both 14" notebooks like the DV1000 but can be configured with ATI Radeon X600s, so I can't see why there wouldn't be room in the notebook for the videocard.

Now of course a DV1000 with that card will generate more heat and less battery life but I'm sure many people would not mind that when they are playing some newer games on it like Half Life 2. I mean, the DV4000 is now selling much more than ever since HP gave it the option for an X700. I wouldn't mind less battery life and more heat for the ability to play some games on it. :)

Too bad it won't be released here in the U.S. Does anybody know at all if HP will ever put a dedicated GPU in the DV1000? I'd be really ticked off if I bought one and the next month they announce that their newer DV1000s would come with a dedicated GPU.
