I'm wondering will we (ever) see upgrade of HP's Elitebook series ?

Will 8530 and 6930 see bump in gfx, processor speed and more choices of LED screens like every other brand in the next few months ?

The business range is usually updated once a year. Expect that they will announce new models in august - september this year.

all the new notebook models (personal & business line) have been announced before summer last year - they came out in august-september 08. the pavillions just got some very nice upgrades (eg. 4650 on dv6t/dv7t - WOW, or quad cores, eg. for the 8730w or hdx) recently..

according to hp business support the upgrades that do well on the personal notebooks will also soon become available on corresponding business notebooks.

im the first one to get a 8530p or its sequel when they get todays mid-high end graphic cards available. but i think it would be even wiser waiting some more months until core i7 m processors and ati 5-series/nvidia geforce 3-series cards get out - elitebooks will certainly be the first candidates from the business line with these available.

then no hardcore gaming notebooks will be necessary anymore to play the newest games on gamer-like settings.. :D

HP usually NEVER upgrades the GPU's on existing business laptops. Anything with ATI RV740 would be great. Expect new models this fall, that probably will get 32 nm CPU's in the beginning of the next year.

Well, I might as well go with 6930p or 8530p from HP Renew program now, then when it gets updated considerably sell it and go for new model. One thing is certain it seems, no new models until middle fall.

check the thread, but for the elitebooks there dont seem to be more information. theyre all probably gonna be shipped with windows 7, so you can expect them in october or a bit later.

The refresh timeframe is around December/January, much later than Windows 7 launch. The current EliteBooks will be the Windows 7 launch models. I'm using one (Windows 7 unit).

Yep, the next refresh will be in line with Dell and Lenovo's refreshes in Q1 2010.

As I constantly upgrade, I get it whenever I can get a good price for a configuration I want and I feel that an upgrade is justified. You're looking at a 4-5 month timeline and the refresh isn't going to be a very big change as the Intel Calpella platform isn't due until Q1 next year, so if you can get an EliteBook at a good price now and you need a new computer, you should get it.

do you know whether the elitebook 8x40 models are coming with the calpella platform? as well as directx 11 gpus...? i heard calpella is being launched in 2009 already, maybe first notebooks shipping with it in 2010. if yes, this would be a great upgrade. if no (especially if they come with present dx10.1 gpus), its gonna be a fail (almost as bad as a 16:9 display on a business notebook is), since dx11 gpus are coming in q1 2010 as well.

dont understand why they put upgrades on consumer line notebooks (eg. dv6 now offered with a mobility radeon 4650) but not on the elitebooks - the 8530p is still only available with a mobility radeon 3650..
