This relates to dv3t. My friend bought dv3t 10 months ago with Vista, and received Windows 7 upgrade disk from HP few months later, but hadn't upgraded to Win 7 yet. She has created two more partitions (D and E) later on using 3rd party software.
Now, I have heard that if you run a recovery disk on your system, it will erase user made partitions, if there are any. So I was afraid that this (official )Win 7 upgrade disk might do something similar and erase the partitions created by her. Can someone please confirm if this is a valid fear?? Would the partitions or data on them be harmed in any way by upgrading to Win 7 using HP's official disk?

if i remember correctly, it does. it recreates the partitions that the laptop originally came with.

Recovery discs do sometimes, but I've never had a windows 7 disc erase a partition(I didn't want it to..)
