Hi all.
As I told you, I finally returned my laptop today. ( I messed up everything when I tried to reinstall OS using the window CD which came with the laptop)
So, Here is a small question. When Window Vista comes out, will HP support installation of window vista for older laptops? (say.. dv2000 or z3000 current version)
I know, we need to pay for that CD but if they just sell retail vista CD not customized for specific model, we would suffer from exactly the same situation..
And especially for dv2000..set up of quickplay buttons were really tricky.
Any thoughts?

Probably Not, you will have to pay full price for the program...

I meant that would they make customized window vista CD for specific model. Oh yeah~~ I would definately pay full price for the program

That will probably be fixed in Vista.
I would expect at most that HP would provide Vista drivers for the touchpads and stuff on their support pages, but those might not be required (built-into Vista) or HP might not bother. Hard to say. -

I think they will release drivers to suppoert Vista, but an install disk I doubt it... you might be better off buying a disk OEM when you can....

I have a Compaq V2000 laptop and I swapped my 80GB drive for a 30GB and loaded the 32-bit beta of Vista on it.
All drivers loaded from the Microsoft install without intervention except for the modem and the 6 in 1 reader. I loaded the most recent 32-bit XP drivers from hp.com for the two devices, and they seem to work.
The only issue is that the 802.11 wireless driver requires me to manually select my home network each time I reboot, where it automatically selects it in XP.
I have installed 640MB for RAM 128MB for video and I have a 1GB SD card for "ReadyBoost" memory using the card reader.
Will HP provide new Vista cd when it comes out?
