This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..

I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.

Anyone have any insights on whether they will release a patch to fix this when 7 comes out? I was hoping they do since most of their laptop utilize this interface.....

I would assume that the current laptop series will still be out when Windows 7 is launched. So I am sure you could bum the drivers from a laptop that is released with Windows 7.

I'm on Windows 7 right now with my HP DV7T and everything works perfectly, if not faster than Vista. My web cam, fingerprint reader, Quick Play controls, mouse pad, and everything else works exactly the same.

If you're looking to upgrade to the Windows 7 RC you should. Backup your SWSetup folder on your C drive onto a dvd or external hard drive. When you install Windows 7 it takes about an hour. It will automatically detect your Ethernet port and wireless internet card. All you have to do from there is install your drivers from SWSETUP.

    I hope that helps.

excellent suggestion, didnt even think about getting the driver from newer HP, I imagine hardware will still be the same, actually thinking about it, HP will most likely release driver or patch cause anyone purchase laptop june 22 and after will get a free windows 7. It simply wouldnt do to hang those peopl eout to dry with a windows 7 installed but no driver to support it. It would be the perfect storm for HP reputation.

Thanks for taking the time and the SWsetup is a good suggestion :)
