Will a XP Pro System Recovery DVD install a working Quickplay Direct Partition on a DV9000T? I have been thinking of buying a copy from HP.
My Vista loaded DV9000T did not come with this partition and my Vista System Recovery DVD does not create this partition, either. I know some people have been trying to fix the problem. I have seen, create a 1024MB partition at the end of the drive, which end ?? Also, ver 3 doesn't support Quickplay Direct, unless you have upgraded from Quickplay 2.3 or something like that?
I was just wondering if I could buy an XP Pro System Recovery DVD, restore the whole bloody notebook and would it put a working Quickplay Direct Partition on my notebook? I could then make sure the partition is upgraded to the latest version of Quickplay/Quickplay Direct and use Acronis to make a backup Image of the partition. I could even install Vista, then make a backup Image of the Quickplay/Quickplay Direct Partition and the Master Boot Record. If I ever had to reinstall Vista, it could be very simple to restore the Image of the Quickplay/Quickplay Direct Partition and the Master Boot Record to have everything working properly again. I don't want to boot the notebook to watch movies.
Does this make sense to anyone?
I still think it's unbelievable that I bought this notebook partly because of this feature and it did not come installed on the notebook, nor did they provide me with a CD to install it from scratch.![]()

I wiped the computer, installed XP Pro from scratch. Created a 1Gig Primary Partitian at the end of the drive labeled X and did not format it, downloaded Quickplay DirectPlay 2.3 from a ridiculous site and it still won't install. Says I don't have a quickplay enabled machine ??? wtf.. I have a QuickPlay Button on the Keyboard
Any ideas, anyone? What am I doing wrong? -

Quickplay Direct 2.3 is not Vista compatible. The only way you can probably get QP 2.3 working is to install XP(or I have heard even a dual boot works) and downgrade to the previous BIOS. The latest BIOS version only supports QP 3.0 which does not have the QP direct.

I removed Vista and installed XP in an attempt to get Quickplay Direct 2.3 working, but it hasn't been going well. I have downloaded all the needed files but I'm bummed it's still not working. Perhaps if I downgrade my bios temporarily for the install, so I could at least see it work, once.
I'm thinking that after I see it work once, I could update everything to QuickPlay 3 and update my bios and it would still work, maybe?
However, I have just found in another thread that the lastest Vista Bios Updates actually block the QuickPlay Direct from running.
Will a XP Pro System Recovery DVD install a working Quickplay Direct Partition on a DV9000?
