Since no one answered my post in the owers lounge before....

If I swap my CPU for something different, is there a chance the buzzing will stop?

Hey, does yours buzz when idle, or when moving around windows or doing something that makes the CPU work?

Ive searched and searched and it seems this CPU buzzing thing is unsolveable and there doesnt seem to be a processor immune to it >(. It doesnt seem like it harms anything though..hopefully.

Im more worried about the Hard Drive being pretty noisy, and the CD drive feeling like its bumping or something (every once in a while) when I use a cd/dvd. Is your Hard Drive noisy (its towards the top right)? This is starting to bother me and im wondering if I should return it or replace it? Im worried replacement laptops are worse than new ones. (Even though im sure they say its the same thing).

yeah, as I posted in your thread, I get it when the CPU is under load (watching movies, playing GTA Vice City) etc.

It really shouldn't buzz. If it's only doing it under load then it must be the fan not properly mounted or lose causing a vibrating sound. Swapping the cpu? Check if your current one is actually ok first. I have the T9400 and it never makes any buzzing sound. I can definately hear the fan though under load.

Ya it SHOULDNT buzz, but based on countless threads about "cpu whine", todays CPU's somehow learned to 'buzz' or 'whine'. Ive settled with it, but now im more worried about HD. I doubt yours is noisy DV5-1055TX, you have the ST Momentus lol. But for me its the stock 160gb fujitsu, and either its normally noisy, or its messed up, and I dunno which..

If you put your ear to the processor area of ANY laptop, dont you ALWAYS hear at least a really faint ticking or something?

Well I just upgraded the HD from the stock Western Digital Scorpio Blue 5400rpm 320gb and that was completely silent as well. I keep hearing those Fujitsu's suck. :(

The only noticable noise I get is the cpu fan under load and my cheap notebook cooler.

Lucky you..im still debating if I should keep it or replace or return..driving me NUTS already.

If I keep it, what if it breaks?

If I replace it, what if the replacement is some BS refurb or something, or is >>>worse somehow otherwise worse. Or is the same.

If I return it, I dunno what ill get otherwise..took me a while to get THIS.

    My main concerns are:

    1. HD seems noisy, seemingly more after startup (like 15minutes or so into >>booting) then after its on for a while. Light clicks here and there (ill >>elaborate later , im not on the laptop now, but more of the typical HD >>scratching noise.

    2. CD seems to kinda bump if you put your hand over the drive while spinning
    >>although I think its just the laser moving..or is it not...?

    3. The CPU ALWAYS 'whines' / 'buzzes' as you drag windows across the >>desktop or perhaps watch a movie or HD video.

    4. The fan sounded like it was rubbing against something, but this only >>happened twice, for a total of 3 seconds, hasnt happened since..so I dunno..

    P.S.
THIS IS ALL IN A QUIET ROOM! If I listen to music or something, or even move 5 feet away I dont hear anything.

Lol thanks...I dunno what to do its driving me nuts!

I can live with the CPU whine..but what if it gets louder...?

But I dunno if the HD is normal or not! Argh!!! Any1 else have 1 Fujitsu 160gb??
